Bio
Nadiyah Lewis de Paula Lima has a voice that is strong, raspy and rockin, a voice that will definitely touch your soul. The daughter of Tarika Lewis, the First Women to join The Original Rank and File of The Black Panther Party, violinist and artist, has been greatly influenced by her unique upbringing and environment of Oakland/Berkeley, California. Nadiyah began singing and playing the violin at age 5. As her passion for singing grew, Nadiyah set aside her violin and began singing in choirs, talent shows and various open mic venues from the Bay to Brazil. Upon acquiring a degree from The University California at Berkeley in Cultural Geography in 2004, Nadiyah has traveled nationally and internationally where she met her husband, guitarist and music composer Sergio de Paula Lima in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian city of swing, samba, reggae and rock. Sergio, a self taught guitarist began playing when he was 16 years old. Sergio’s wide range of musical influences is born from exposure to various sounds of his native city. Together they've combined their love for music, humanity and the African Diaspora, creating a sound filled with rock, blues, soul, funk, samba, reggae, all rhythms of Black, South, Central and North America.
